To be clear - Direct bfdd integration happened in the 6.0 release/timeframe. We did have bfd support via the ptmd ( and external daemon ) but you have to track down ptmd and get it working on your system. donald On Mon, Oct 8, 2018 at 6:28 PM Martin Winter <mwinter@opensourcerouting.org> wrote:
Mayank,
FRR 5.0 doesn’t support BFD yet. But I’m not sure why you see bfd files in the codebase.
Can you give me an output of “zebra -v”
6.0 supports BFD and was just tagged today. There are no packages published (yet - they are still building and testing), but that should work fine with BFD.
Also, be aware that BFD is not supported on all platforms. Specially some older platforms won’t support it. What OS/Distro are you using?

Hi,
I am using stable/5.0 branch of FRR. Also, I am referring to http://docs.frrouting.org/en/latest/bfd.html#starting-bfd link for BFD configuration.
The instruction asks to start bfd from '/usr/lib/frr/bfdd' location but I am not able to find /usr/lib/frr/bfdd file in that location. However, in the code base I can see bfd related files: root@frr-ppod4-0:/frr/lib# ls -lrt bfd.* -rw-rw-r-- 1 root root 10987 Aug 22 21:41 bfd.c -rw-rw-r-- 1 root root 3399 Aug 22 21:55 bfd.h -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 81184 Aug 22 22:00 bfd.o -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 282 Aug 22 22:00 bfd.lo
Can you please suggest on what I am missing here due to which bfdd file is not getting generated?
Thanks and Regards, Mayank
