I am happy to announce that I have started a review process for FRR to be added to Fedora[1]. After we figure out all the packaging details, FRR will be available in F29 and higher.
That is great to hear! Thanks for your efforts! If you have any packaging questions, I (re-)did the Debian package and might be able to answer them.
I need to mention one important thing. I have added the latest version of FRR but *without* *babeld* and *ldpd* modules. These two modules are still having licensing issues and I will not include them in the distro unless all these issues are resolved.
It might be useful if someone contacts the FreeBSD and/or SFLC people. I've been told that the FreeBSD project requested and received a detailed evaluation of the situation, and apparently the result was a green light (FreeBSD does ship FRR in full config I think?) That said, I have only second-hand data here; I keep saying I'll go ask for a copy and post it on the list, but I never got to it - then again this is something anyone can do :) FWIW, Debian also ships FRR in full config; no objections were raised (copyright & licensing is properly documented) and Paul's attempt to raise a stink on debian-legal yielded exactly nothing. Considering that Debian is rather, er, "active" about software freedom, I think that is also a data point. Cheers, -David
