Does anyone know how to start frr daemon on Ubuntu 16.04 or 14.04?

Because I cannot find the startup script in /etc/init.d/* or /usr/lib/systemd/*

You can find both files under tools/ when you downloaded the sources or on github: https://github.com/FRRouting/frr/blob/master/tools/frr.service https://github.com/FRRouting/frr/blob/master/tools/frr You just need to copy them to /etc/init.d/ or /etc/systemd/system accordingly.
