The meeting is now done as a Slack huddle off the #development channel each Tuesday at 11 am UTC-5 (US eastern). It's primarily intended as a developer meeting though it's open to the community.

Have you perhaps considered Zulip as an alternative?
not as flashy, but still great, open and giving free instance access for opensource projects last time I checked (I ran my own, and could even assist/offer help in setting up a self hosted instance)
