RD's are there to allow you to apply policy.  I would agree with you it is not necessarily a bad idea but I would hate to prevent someone from coming up with a novel use case here.  Especially since I believe you should be using programmatic approaches to building your configuration here which should help prevent a problem here in that aspect.
