Hello, I followed the tutorial, and configured 2 Ubuntu 18 VMs with frr OSPF + LDP + L2VPN VPLS. Routing table is OK on the VMs, pseudowires created OK and UP. I cannot see bridge br0 or interface mpw0, if I do “ifconfig” on the linux vm. I tried pinging over the VPLS, but the frames coming from the host are not encapsulated in MPLS. Is there a specific Linux setup necessary to enable the dataplane forwarding to work ? What tutorial? The Linux kernel does not support VPLS. FRR supports it, but only on OpenBSD, and it's not regularly tested.
Is there a specific Linux setup necessary to enable the dataplane forwarding to work ?
Well, yes, the "setup" is that someone needs to implement it for the Linux kernel. I have done so previously in my free time as a side project (= proof of concept, incomplete), but noone is currently funding development or testing in this direction. Cheers, David
Thanks, David, for the response. Yes, we noticed that OpenBSD is mentioned in the FRR tutorial, and we will try it to see. Regarding VPWS or P2P EoMPLS, do you have any idea about the level of support in FRR and Linux ? Same as VPLS; Linux currently has no Ethernet-in-MPLS encapsulation capability[*]. (Getting to VPLS from VPWS/EoMPLS would be relatively easy.) -David [*] there is a "hack" in TC filter actions, but it cannot be used for actual VPWS setups since it doesn't support an actual label base.
Hello, According to feature matrix [0], VPLS is only supported on OpenBSD systems and if I'm not mistaken it always be like this. Am I missing something?
