sending routes to one area

i'm new to frr and ospf, so this might sound like a simple question. i have a network of clients separated from the rest of a much larger network by four gateways pseudo code follows... when i config ospf on the gateways router ospf router id 1 network 10.0.1.0/24 area 0 network 10.0.2.0/24 area 1 and then on the clients router ospf router id 100 network 10.0.2.0/24 area 1 all the routing seems to work find and all the hosts on various networks can see each other. however, what i can't seem to figure out is how i can distribute a default route on linux i would do something like ip route add default nexthop 10.0.2.1 nexthop 10.0.2.2 nexthop 10.0.2.3 nexthop 10.0.2.4 and that works in this instance too, in that the packets will flow over the four gateway machines, however if one of the gateways goes down the route table doesn't get updated since i statically defined the default route what i want to do is advertise a default route to all the clients in area 1 only. i can't seem to figure out a combination of redistribute/route-maps/acl's and i haven't been able to locate a clear example on the internet. can anyone lend a hand?

OpenFabric - not allowing >2 nodes per link?

Good day, I've been testing OpenFabric for mesh type setup, but also have some redundant links that have more than 2 nodes on the same VLAN/ethernet bridge/switch. Those multiple nodes per link seems to not have a consistent route view, and as such I need to get some more "noob"/how-to documentation to understand if that is part of the design criteria, or a FRR 8.5 to 9.0 "feature"? If you are seeing a value of 500, that would be via an iBGP session. Check the border router where the route is coming from and fix the LOCAL_PREF value you'd like to see from there. Mark.

OSPF not using peer address with UNNUMBERED interfaces

Hi All, Not sure if this should rather go towards the dev list, but as I have outlined in the github issue at https://github.com/FRRouting/frr/issues/15263 we are not able to use the peer address in OSPF interface calculations. Any advice will be much appreciated. Kind regards Ian Coetzee

FRR and libyang2 update

All -- The latest libyang2 release 2.1.111 has an incompatible change to it's ABI and causes FRR to no longer be able to work properly with it. See this issue filed for an explanation: https://github.com/FRRouting/frr/issues/14258 Additionally it is discussed here: https://github.com/CESNET/libyang/issues/2090 Since FRR needs to make changes to its code in order for FRR to continue to use newer versions of libyang2 it is not recommended that anyone upgrade to libyang2.1.111 or later at this point in time. We currently expect to be able to make these changes for the 9.1 release. What can you do? If you are using FRR 8.0 or later do not upgrade to libyang2.1.111 at this point in time. If you have, please downgrade to 2.1.80 or earlier. thanks! donald

FRR PBR routing by DSCP

I see there is a new version of FRR is just available that should provide PBR routing by matching DSCP (FRR 9.1). I use Debian version 11 at the moment and plan to upgrade from FRR 7.5 to FRR to 9.1 Will the DSCP match rule work in this platform (some mention about Linux dataplane layer in the FRR documentation)? If not (as I am guessing at the moment) is there some way to configure Debian OS to enable the feature or perhaps a different Linux OS that does support it? I am not a Linux user so would need simple instructions to get this working. Thanks. Adding local routes via FRR

Is there a way to use FRR staticd to add local routes? Specifically I'm looking for an equivalent to the following iproute2 command: ip route add local 2001:db8::/64 dev lo FRR has ipv6 route 2001:d8b::/64 lo table 255 But that command only adds a route to the local table, it does not create a local route which can be used for whole subnet loopback. Simple BGP configuration to test

Hi all! I configured the BGP peer to test and the sessions are UP but it does not propagate the networks. I tried all the options that I know, but it does not work yet.
