Hello, I have been running into the same issue for quite some time now and unsure of how to fix it. FRR coming to Fedora

Hi all, I am happy to announce that I have started a review process for FRR to be added to Fedora[1]. After we figure out all the packaging details, FRR will be available in F29 and higher. I need to mention one important thing. I have added the latest version of FRR but *without* *babeld* and *ldpd* modules. These two modules are still having licensing issues and I will not include them in the distro unless all these issues are resolved. VxLAN and Linux Kernel support

Hello everyone, We are currently trying to deploy a VxLAN setup on a Linux distribution that is based on the Linux Kernel Version 4.9.161, and FRR version 6.0.2. We have as well confirmed that it is working on kernel version 4.20. It looks like we don't see the ARP request being propagated through the setup. As it stands, trying to backport the patches required for this feature does not seem to be working correctly, and it is currently impossible for us to move forward in the kernel versions. As such, would anyone be able to give a pointer to some kernel patches, or other possible solutions that would be able to get the VxLAN correctly working on this platform by backporting the correct patches? issues with frr_interface_info in flexible array member

Hi, Recently I have taken FRR7.0 code base and have cross compile in Ubunto-16.04 for a target (ARM). Once the daemons (Zebra, RIP etc) are run into the target I see .xpath field in frr_interface_info (frr_interface_info.nodes[0].xpath) contains junk value, though it's been initialized by "/frr-interface:lib/interface". My understanding is (correct me if I am wrong pls) that frr_interface_info is part of shared library i.e. libfrr.so.0.0.0 and it's of type frr_yang_module_info which has the flexible arrary members i.e. "nodes[]". Now once we link the shared library to be part of zebra, zebra get's its own copy of frr_interface_info (data segment is not shared). My doubt is "does the whole section of frr_interface_info" (i.e. including the flexible array members) gets copied into each daemon? I can see only the fixed size i.e. upto "name" is correct, not the nodes[]. It seems I may miss some options at compile, please suggest me. Thanks & Regards Sahoo

New "printfrr()" functionality available in FRR master

Hi all, we've recently merged (https://github.com/FRRouting/frr/pull/4333) new string formatting code which allows printing network/FRR-specific data types more easily. It's inspired by the Linux kernel and works by *appending* "sub-formats" after %p/%d printf specifiers. The idea is to remain compatible with normal %p/%d calling conventions (so compiler warnings keep working), but the code knows more about the pointer/integer that is passed. The idea is that instead of doing: if (debug) { char buf[]; zlog_debug("%s", inet_ntop(AF_INET, &addr, buf, sizeof(buf))); } you can do: if (debug) zlog_debug("%pI4", &addr); For example, "%pI4" is used to print a "struct in_addr *" as A.B.C.D, with the inet_ntop() call happening inside of printfrr() instead of separately beforehand. Note that for the compiler this just looks like "%p" and you're passing any random pointer. printfrr knows to interpret the "I4" and print the pointer contents as an IPv4 address instead. This is documented under doc/developer/logging.rst, cf. https://github.com/FRRouting/frr/blob/master/doc/developer/logging.rst Extended formats are registered with "printfrr_ext_autoreg", so you can also grep for that to see what's available. Currently, we have: %pI4 (struct in_addr *) %pI6 (struct in_addr6 *) %pFX (struct prefix *) %pSG4 (struct prefix_sg *) %pNH (struct nexthop *) %pRN (struct route_node *) They aren't put to much use yet, I'm planning to slowly introduce them and simplify existing code. I also expect that we add more printers as needed & we see fit. NB: all the zlog_* and vty_out functions use printfrr internally, so these extension work there. However, if you call snprintf(), you need to change that to snprintfrr()! I also have a work-in-progress gcc plugin that provides additional compiler warnings for these extensions. However, it needs a patched version of the gcc-python wrapper and isn't particularly easy to use, so I'm still pondering how to best integrate that. In any case, this is an extension purely for improved warnings and is not needed at all to use this functionality. Cheers, -David

Regarding trapping of BGP control packets in frr

Hi, I would like to know how does a BGP control packet sent by a peer get trapped by BGP in frr. Does it come to zebra first before being trapped by BGP. It would be good to indicate the functions called for this ? Thanks & Regards, Sudhanshu
